Hi all,
I just returned from a long trip to Chicago in the SVT and found that the driver's side footwell would get VERY hot during long stints on the highway. This was very unnerving as well as very uncomfortable! I do not know if it way doing the same thing while the AC was on or not, but will soon figure that out. Has anyone experienced the same problem, and if so, where was it coming from and how was it fixed?

I have had the same experience with the heat in drivers side footwell. I feel its coming from the steering column. Go down there and feel it. Feel hot?? I also notice my key is pretty damn hot when I take it out of the ignition after a hour drive. I dunno what the heck to do, but just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

BTW, I have a 95 LX, not an SVT, but it seems a problem in ALL 'tours.

FWIW, mine is substantially lowered, and I used to think the lowering had something to do with the heat in the footwell (less air getting under the car, closer to the hot asphalt, etc..) but I now feel that it is not the case.

Anyone else?? Any solutions??

same problem here

not lowered

non SVT

Have no clue, but I just assumed it was engine compartment heat soaking thru the firewall...

No flame intended but had it occurred to anyone that there's a rear cylinder bank exhaust manifold sitting just in front of the firewall?

Zetecs don't seem to have this problem since the exhaust manifold is situated at the "front" of the vehicle (personal experience on many long trips). smile

Is the smoke alarm in your house also known as the "dinner bell"?

Matt(QWICSVT) found it last night... The insulation around the steering shaft had come out... Thus leaving a big hole to the engine compartment where the exhaust manifold heat was coming into the car.. He's in the process of patching that up and getting it taken care of..
