Hey Guys,
My wife and I are thinking of taking a long weekend and driving out to Ohio to hit Cedar Point. I see you guys are looking to have a get together sometime soon and if it works out, I'd like to meet some of you. If we go it'll probably be July 20 and 21.
Is the park worth hitting? I'm a decent fan of rollercoasters and I know Cedar Point is supposed to have about the best collection. Let me know on both the quality of the park (is it worth a 10 hr drive) and if anyone is interested in getting together should we come out that way. The only bad thing is we will probably be driving the wifes Escape. It's time to put some miles on her ride!

Cedar has recently been voted the TOP theme park in the WORLD. It has some of the BEST coasters in the world. I would say it is definitely worth the trip. Its a great place with a beautiful view of the lake from a few of the coasters.

Cedar Point is Awesome, if you go past it and dont stop you will be mad at yourself for awhile. Seriously it puts the Six Flags up here to shame and its cheaper!! I went to Geauga Flags (LOL) they had no after 5 special, wanted $9 to park, and $37 at the door. CP it $7 to park including the "toll"
Anyway go to CP ride the Raptor and Millenium Force (my fav's) all though they all are great.

Thanks for the good input guys. I will see if I can persuade my wife to head out that way. It seems like its this or Mount Rushmore, but I'd rather take the 'tour up there- Needles highway!!! Both are 9-10 hours from us. If we go, I'll give you guys a heads up and maybe we can meet up somewhere and/or go to the park together.
Thanks, Rick

OK all, I think we are going to be hitting Cedar Point on July 19 (Thursday). Does anyone want to come and join us in the fun? Post a reply here or drop me an email (in my sig). I'd like to meet a few more of my fellow CEG'ers so I hope some of you can make it out.
PS- anyone recommend a good place to stay around Cedar Point?
Rick

I'm not ruling this out...I need to see what my plans are around this time. I live in Pittsburgh, which is about 3 hours away.
Anybody else here want to get a small gathering at the Point?

Buckshot77, Good choice. Well worth the 10 hour trip. Cedar Point is a first class park. I recommend the Breakers right in the park. Very old but kept up well and very nostalgic. Also if you want to take a break from the rides, it's right on the beach. Go to cedarpoint.com for more info. One other tip, when you ride the Raptor, wait the extra 10-15 minutes for the fromt seat. The unobsructured view makes it worth the wait. It's the closest thing to being in a jet fighter.

I second the front seat ride on the Raptor, it could be the most fun in the whole park!
