Must resist urge to flame

Go to "Mods" section of the main page - it's a pretty complete list of all available mods for Contours. Then search for info here at Forums on the ones you are considering. They've all been tried already (with maybe the exception of the new BAT filters).

Helpful search tip: search one forum at a time, not "Search all Forums" option. It'll search all of the local forums, of which there are many, and take forever.

See, I can be a nice helpful CEGer laugh

I know someone with the BAT aluminum intake pipe and they say you get much better punch at low RPM, which is where we need it!

Seriously, try www.batinc.net and download their catalog. They have TONS of Contour stuff.

bah... and double bah.

you want more torque, increase displacement, or get a set of shm headers. anything short of that isn't going to give you much of anything in the low-end torque department.

I've seen the SHM vs MSDS comparisons... but somehow I can't remember. Wasn't it the MSDS headers that improve low-end torque?

I could've sworn I'd read an article (on the Summit web site) that stated shorty headers are better for low-end torque... I'll have to check that out again...

Secondly, would it or would it not be cheaper to raise the bore/stroke of a 2.5 block rather than buy a (junked) 3.0 and have it swapped in by a shop?

.RMk..

it is the size of the primaries that is going to give you more torque. long tube always yield more low end... shoty's are a better mid-high rpm header.

the block is to fragile to bore aftermarket. although it can be done (it will be very expensive)
