I have been wanting to do this mod for a long time because it is so cheap. I only paid $20, and it took only 15 minutes. Does it have any negative or positive effects on backpreasure, gas mileage, or horsepower? Anybody? confused

Basically you're exchanging low-end torque for mid-high end horsepower with this mod. So backpressure will be reduced. Gas mileage should improve 1 mpg...that is if you dont floor it like me at every light.

Thanks. I just wanted to tell the whole world of my great acomplishment. Now if I could just learn how to spell. What's next? I think I'll get one of those superchips, or a great new muffler.

How do you like it?

Too loud?

Performance gains?

Recommend?

I have contemplated doing this too...not sure if the added noise is worth the performance gain.

laugh

I like it very much. It's not to loud. There is no noticable performance gain. Are glasspack mufflers louder than stock, I would like my car to be a little louder still. smile

Guess its a matter of opinion. I noticed a little better MPG, but if I could do it over again, I would have replaced the res with a glasspack of some sort. We've got 2 kids, so our Tour is more of a family car, and IMO its just too loud. Plus when the exhaust is cool, it rattles like heck for the first 5-10 minutes of driving.

I had a str8 pipe put in but the rasp was too annoying so I had a glasspack put in backwards. People can say what they want about how bad glasspacks are but I had one installed for the baffles inside the glasspack not the sound deadening properties. The baffles eliminated the rasp completely and the car is just as loud as before.

Performance wise I would say there has been a significant increase in low end torque. A fellow Ceg'er drove my car and immediately noticed the extra torque. I also drove his car as well and noticed a lack of torque (not much but noticeable). I rarely have to go into the secondaries in everyday traffic; something I did alot before the mod.

I have also gained 15-30 miles per tank. I am very pleased with this mod.

That's incredible results, mysticali. I suppose this doesn't effect inspection or emissions negatively?

mysticali what glasspack are you using. My exaust with a str8 pipe and y pipe is raspy as well in the secondaries. It almost sounds like something isn't bolted but it all is.. The glasspack eliminates this??
