A Suburban owner on another board suggested that the Suburban is popular because of it's capabilities, despite it's size--that many of the people who buy the Suburban would be happier with a smaller vehicle that could tow as much and carry as much. Basically they are putting up with the size of the Suburban.

They also suggested that this is why the Expedition failed-it was too big for what it actually towed and carried. Or maybe too big for
what the target market was actually intending to
tow and carry. It was big for big's sake, and it
was probably over that line of how big
an SUV "ought" to be to be easy to park and drive.
