I think most dealers (and others, in fact) lump these cars in with all the generic 4 doors tooling around. To the uninformed,a Contour is like a Saturun SL which is like a Mazda Protege which is like a Nissan Sentra which is like a Dodge Stratus, etc etc. To most people, a Contour is a used car. A friend of mine steered me away from some other cars and into a Contour just recently, and even though I got hosed (the car is giving me big time headaches) I still like it better than others I have driven. Plop a Toyota badge on it, and all the mags would hoot and holler about how great it is. Say Ford, and you get the evil eye.
