As a transplant to New England myself, here's my take. The drivers are nuts !!, don't be shy on the road or you'll hear all about it. If you like sports, there is no better place in the world. Go RedSox !! The winters are tough but it depends a lot too on where you live in New England. I'm west of Boston and we get hit hard. Cape Cod on the other hand doesn't get a lot of snow in comparison.

The folks are friendly too (NECEG is a prime example). While there aren't too many bar-b-q places like Austin (I love Rudys & Ironworks myself) the local food (seafood!!) holds up very well.

Cost of living is expensive, renting/buying a house especially so.
