It's for the best. They've agreed that they have just grown apart over the years and it is in their best interest to part ways. They have patched up their relationship to the point that they can remain friends to each other so I'm glad.
They've already spoken to a lawyer and have gotten the wheels rolling. It's going to be one of the cleanest divorces I've ever heard of. No fighting, no pointing fingers, Mom gets the house and the car. Dad gets to keep his retirement benefits. No bickering.
I'm not saying that I wouldn't have liked for them to stay together, but I wouldn't want them to do that just for my peace of mind. I have a relationship with both of them, so even though they are parting ways, I will still keep in touch with both of them.
