I have had no personal experience with the long-range thing. I can give you some of my thoughts considering 2 of my 3 best friends dealt with a 5+ hour distance between them and their gfs.

First I will say good luck. You probably won't need it, but you will notice that the high school years are the most evolutionary in social lives. College is the place where you learn to break the parental bond and learn to talk to strangers and mingle with people you've never met before. High school is a place where you depend strongly upon having a clicque (click) of people with commonalities. Both of you will no dobut struggle with each other and with your schooling and your social lives.

The long distance thing shouldn't break you two apart if you were meant to be together. You should never be the one to cheat (so you should never convince yourself that she is cheating on you). I would leave her before I would cheat. You should tell her what you believe (if you haven't already) and trust that she trusts you.

You might find that you car talking to her more than 3 times a week (my two buddies are on the ball and chain and 80% of their calls are from their gfs - we are talking 3 times a DAY). IM and ICQ will be cheap and you may never know how effective these could be. The first problem my buddies saw was the phone bill after the 1st month apart. $300 kind of makes the parents want to hang the phone up for you in the middle of the conversation. They both have cell phones with plans that allow for tons of talk time and that don't charge long distance. Hopefully you will be able to find one of these should you decide you need it.

You will both be stressed. Freshman year of college is when you become disoriented and have to find your balance and stand on your own feet. It will especially be tough for you, but your willpower, communication, and creativity will be the things you need to make a go at a relationship (as with any good relationship).

Just make sure you show the effort and the fidelity and she will reciprocate (hopefully).

Good Luck

BTW both of my friends are happily still together (one pair for 3 years and the other for 18 months of mostly long-distance) and they have all gone through at least the first "fight" and have managed to overcome it.
