Is it doable? Definetely! Would I want to do it? No Way After seeing all the people who came to college with boyfriends and girlfriends from back home and then broke up with them eventually, I must say the cards are stacked against you. A good friend of mine ruined most of his freshman year in college being tied down to a girl at home (true she did whip him, so it wasn't totally mutual). There are so many things going on at college that you have to make time for. You will probably find yourself viewing High School girls differently than college girls, they are a lot different, in some good ways some bad. I'm probably not going about this the most positive way but this is the best advice I can offer. It's definetely possible that you can pull it off, as everyone says it's been done before. However, DO NOT SELL YOURSELF SHORT. By this I mean that take advantage of what college has to offer you, and not just in women If you two decide to go through with it, good luck to both of you, you will need it. -Pete

I did this my freshman year in college. I met my fiance and lived three hours away (I in Longview, she in Dallas, Tx).
We wrote each other emails everyday and stayed in contact. It's amazing how much you learn about each other through emails. On top of that, we talked on the phone almost every other day. It worked out well... I've been married to her for over two years now and wouldn't have changed a thing...

reading these responses, i'd have to say some of you guys are insensitive *******s thanks for all the responses. i've actually been considering going to ysu for a year first so i can be with her. i'll take all of my core classes, and then when i do go away, we'll have a more solid relationship. i can also gauge whether it looks like we're gonna be together for a while or not yet (i think so). also, the relationship is pretty mutual, i'd have to say. we're both very accomodating of each other, it's not lopsided at all.

I stayed with mine through school. She lived 1.5 away though. Looking back I wish I would have been single since I ended up breaking up w/ her my senior year. I'm not hung up over it or anything but you miss a lot of good times and experiences. Good luck.

I'd say it all depoends on what you're looking for relationship wise. If both of you want a serious relationship than it is most definitely doable, but if you're in it just for fun, it is more likely to not work. Not all 16 yr old girls are all immature like so many seem to think, my g/f is 16 and is just as mature as me or anyone i know. (i'm 23 BTW) if she's mature enough to handle the seperation and you're mature enough to not immediately start chasing the soroity chicks around, it could well work out. Best of luck.

You are both young! Break it off any enjoy yourself. You will worry yourself to death that you are cheating on here and stuff. There are just to many unknowns that could happen when you have so much free time.
Enjoy you single college life. Break it off.
This is form someone who dated a girl an hour away by flight for 1.5 years. I do regret it. not her just the distance relationship!
