reading these responses, i'd have to say some of you guys are insensitive *******s
thanks for all the responses. i've actually been considering going to ysu for a year first so i can be with her. i'll take all of my core classes, and then when i do go away, we'll have a more solid relationship. i can also gauge whether it looks like we're gonna be together for a while or not yet (i think so). also, the relationship is pretty mutual, i'd have to say. we're both very accomodating of each other, it's not lopsided at all.
