well, i figured i might as well get some opinions on this because i'm having a hard time myself. i'm going away to college (OSU, columbus) on sept. 21 and my girlfriend will be staying here (poland, ohio, near youngstown), about 3 hours away. she's going to be a sophomore in HS this year so it's not like she's gonna be in college next year or anything. i definitely want to try to stay together with her during college and see how it goes, but i wanted to see what you guys thought of this and what kind of chances you think i have. she's gonna be 16 august 23, i'm gonna be 18 sept 3, so we're about exactly 2 years apart - and i don't want to hear any comments about the age difference we're both very loyal to each other, she doesn't flirt with other guys or even give them the time of day, and neither do i (but i think she has to worry about that more than i do ). i figured i would call her/talk to online frequently (call her at least 3 times a week), send her videos (a la road trip, but not anything like the one with beth in it ), send her packages for important dates like sweetest's day, valentine's day, etc. if i'm not home at the time, and try to come home at least every two weeks. any opinions?

definitely do-able. 3 hours isn't far at all. you could visit on weekends. I maintained a long distance relationship with my high school sweetheart when we both attended college and it worked out fine, and he was many many states away. (oh and I see absolutely nothing wrong with the "age difference")

Robbing the cradle huh ?
Good for you :-D
Questions and personal story.
Have you been going out for a while now ? (I think it makes it a little easier if you have been going out for a while and gotten over the first bits of the relationship)
I stayed with my GF for the 2 years she was away at college(she did 2 years at the community college before going away) but we talked on ICQ almost every night or phone (good thing I could call from work using the internet for free) she was about 2.5 hours away and she came home almost everyother weekend and I went up most weekend she did not come back (she was staying with her Grandparents to go to school)

age difference = not an issue [i figure as long as two people are genuinely interested in each other it shouldn't be anything... but alas people like Anna Nicole Smith and her now-dead-hubby make me wonder :p ] good luck on the relationship, i think if both of you are committed and willing to work it out and make things happen, you can both do it. i believe long distance relationships can work... ya just gotta work em a little differently than if they were "local"

3 hours? That's a no-brainer!! Do it. If anything, it'll make your relationship stronger; it'll force you to value your time together more. You should just alternate who drives every weekend. Good luck, but you don't really need it.
