Boxster boy = Wanna be Passat You're joking right? Seriously, you must be. If not then... Hate to break it to you but VW and Porsche went seperate ways a long time ago, yes they are both included in the same family, but they are as different as possible, there are no shared parts, there is no resemblance whatsoever between the Boxster and ANY Volkswagen made today (If you even think of mentioning the Beetle you are an idiot) So Cartman (change your name back to Cartman for the love of god!) didn't get the S model, oh well, it will still spank your car and looks better in the meantime. Add to that the prestige that comes with the name and it's worth the asking price. I would kill for a chance to own such a car and you know you would too. Poor man's Porsche? Try slightly less wealthy man's Porsche, only worth double what your SVT was brand new. Geez, some people have no respect for the finer things. Still hope you are joking... in which case I should lay off the coffee and try a little more sleep

Porsche and VW split ok so i take back my statement, i thought VW still owned them like acura and honda. Spank me? well hate to break it to YOU but if i shelled out $30,000 or more i would hope he beats a $23,000 car also  Looks better? Opinions vary Own one? yeah maybe a 959 or 911 twin turbo BUT NOT A BOXSTER No respect for a porsche? Yeah sure i do No respect for the owner of one who calls a someones father a WUSS for not buying a stick YOU BET YOUR MONKEY ASS

Porsche an VW never split, they went in two completely different directions a LONG time ago, long before you were born, Porsche took the sports car route, and Volkswagen took the mass market people hauler route. VW and Porsche are included in the same family, but there is no platform sharing with the Boxster or 911 models, they have a reputation that disallows such a thing. However the Cayenne and VWs SUV will share a platform. Just curious, but how can you call the Boxster ugly and then in the same sentence mention you like the 911? they are so similar, (actually the front end was identical for a long time) Porsche costomers were even having difficulty telling a 911 convertible from a Boxster. I have no respect for Cartman either, I think he smells bad and has a nasty ass hair problem, but his car is awesome. And Dan's dad probably is a wuss. I mean really, you go buy this awesome sports sedan and toss in an automatic... jeez, there goes all the fun right there, it has just become an appliance how sad...

The Boxster is a fun little car, but the MR2-S is A LOT better value...and I like the looks of it too.

How did a post about Dan's dad getting a G35 end up a shouting match over the Porsche Boxster?

Slim, I bought my Boxster in January of 99. The S models didn't even debut until February of 2000. I could have waited, but that would have meant sacrificing a summer, and the S still wasn't 100% confirmed. So I'm happy. A TPC supercharger or the TPC bi-turbo kit puts out so much more power than a base-S, I don't even care.
The Boxster is more of a drivers car than the 911. Drive both (if your dealership will let you) and report back to me. Why do I continually beat 911s at the track at PCA events every month?
A RUF 3600S (Boxster w/ 3.6L engine) is $98K. For that price, I can get a 911 Twin Turbo with a few thousand miles.
And lastly, poor man's Porsche? That's just jealous talk. I paid $54K cash for my car. Another $12K could have gotten me into a 99 996, but I didn't like the car, and wanted a convertible. A convertible 996 optioned out the way I wanted it cost $92K. I decided to buy a house with the difference instead, and am much happier with my decision.

I couldn't even fit comfortably in the car, and I'm only 6'2". Not to mention the trunk is the size of a glove compartment. I had similar issues in the S2000.
