lots of you have lately chimed in stating the underhood temps of our cars (especially the V6 models) have some pretty extreme temps under the hood - let's get some "cool" ideas [pun intended] to get some of the "heat" out of the enginebay...

the metal from the intake is like a huge radiator under the hood....

i believe that if someone can create a composite intake we would probably lower the temps by at least 30 degrees...

it's essentially "free" horsepower and helps with engine longevity....

Moving the battery to the trunk makes a big difference as well. Also gives you more room to play around will different intske setups.

How about cooling off the oil filter that sits right next to the exhaust manifold. I look at that every time I do an oil change and think of trying wierd things with hoses. (No, not that wierd...)

Those who are running the cold air intakes might benefit from coating it or wrapping it up. I first thought of using those Thermo Tec wraps to keep the heat down. But it looks kinda ugly and at this point I would like it to shine under the hood. Anyways I than looked into Jet Hot Coatings. Ceramic coatings that work on headers and exhausts, etc. have to work on a CAI. So after talking with them I shipped it to them. It's still shiny as I like it and runs estimated 30% cooler. The throttle is more responsive and I notice my engine running cooler. After a hard run I can actually put my hand on the CAI vs. not being able to put a finger on it before. Just a suggestion.Sorry for the crappy pic. BTW the CAI was fabricated by INJEN TECHNOLOGY, and I use a WEAPON R foam filter.
