Same thing happened to me as I was driving home from the dealer after I had purchased the car. It was an 1,800 mile trip home-which explains the coke and I was part way home. As I was going through a town at the time, I had just gassed up and was saving the soda for the freeway when a left-hander unleashed a furry of fizz. Fortunately it was only a pinhole but still I head this thing hissing and looked down and as it rolled, it was shooting all over. I feel your pain about the soda, sorry bout the rain though, that has gotta suck.

The best thing to do with a soda spill is immediately pour hot water on the spots, and press a paper towel on it until the water dry's (which should be quick, cause the water should be really hot, which will help evaporate it) A guy that details concourse (sp?) type cars told me this trick, and it worked great when i left a 20ox pepsi on the seat which I apparantly didnt screw the cap on tight enough... -Nick

One day my wife(girlfriend at the time) left a blueberry Glade candle on my back seat the first summer I had my car. It tipped over and melted to my seat! All of it came off, but I was sooo pissed!

I used simple green to get soda stains out and it seems to work pretty good. I've never had a can explode on me but I have had the glue on paper cups from fast food restaurants become undone during the night and have the soda leak everywhere.

Ok, two more spill/near miss stories. These are all funny but not funny. I volunteered one holiday to pick up BBQ for a luncheoon we were having at work. I had a Mazda ruck at the time. I figured, beautiful December day, I'll be out of the lab for hr and a half. Free pass right? Well I put the aluminum pan on the passenger floor. I was smelling the sauce and boy I was getting hungrier by the mile. When I got to my destination, The pan had a small punture in it. BBQ sauce was everywhere I was hungry for weeks. The other story was when I was driving the company bobtail. I had to pick up a cylinder of nitrogen for photolab. We had a method of laying the cylinder down and propping a two truck/dolly against the wall to secure it. It worked for years, why change? Well driving down the road, an idiot pulls out and I have to slam the brakes and I can hear the cylinder sliding forward! It comes really fast and stops about an inch away from the gas pedal. I was lucky it didn't pin itself against the pedal or I would have blasted that car. Was this too long?
