Read this and tell me if you think this is funny....

I just started attending a night school class for Java at Conestoga College. Monday was my first night. At the start of the 1st class, everyone had to stand up and say a little bit about themselves (where they're from, why are they taking the class, etc.)

A girl that went just before me before me said that she worked at RIM (Research In Motion, makers of the blackberry here in Waterloo) and that they were paying for her tution. When the instructor heard this he said, "Ah, soon everyone will be working for RIM", because it is such a large tech sector employer in Waterloo.

Well, I was next. I said where I was from and why I was taking the course and I finished off by saying, "and I'll never get a RIM job".

Dead silence fell across the room and the most agonizing 10 seconds of my life expired till the instructor called out the next person's name. How was I so wrong? That has to have been some of the best material I've come up with in ages?!?!?

Please tell me that was funny....I am now the class pariah.
