You have quite a few options.
1. Get a macrovision filter (search on the web). Ranges from $30 to $130.
2. If you just want to record DVDs, get a dvd player that can disable macrovision (either through a secret menu or via a "mod" chip) (see
www.vcdhelp.com for a good list)
3. If you have a computer, most of the TV cards that use the conexant BTXXX line of video chips completely ignore macrvision. So if you have a TV out on your video card, you can just record from that.
4. search the web for plans to build your own.
