Grassroots Motorsports just did a feature on what cars to buy for $5000, $10000, and $15000...
According to them the best value for a "fun" daily driver under $5000 was a Mitsubishi Eclipse or Eagle Talon (AWD Turbo models)...
Dunno about the reliability... but they are nice looking cars that are fun for sure.
Good gas mileage, pretty reliable, and cheap sounds like a Cavalier... but they are slow and ugly.
