There have been a few recent incidents where mexican army members have come on to US soil and fired on Border Patrol agents. They claimed that they were pursuing a suspect and mistook the agents for the perp. I'm looking for the article...

These people have more rights than citizens, especially if they are pregnant and deliver their babies free of charge in US hospitals! Oh, I forgot...then these illegal babies are US citizens! What a crock of sh*t!
It's high time we put an end to the uncontrolled legal as well as illegal immigration. We got enough people already. Forgot that crap about filling jobs.
This country has done pretty damn well in the years before letting all of these third world immigrants in. Better in fact!

Issue #1: last year (AFTER 9/11) three of us (all foreign students) went to Tijuana from San Diego.
On the way back we realized that 1. My US visa has expired (I forgot about it) and 2. the 2 other guys had forgot their passports(!!!) on the US side.
The border control ppl were "surprised", but after 1.5hrs of negotiations we were on US soil, smiling. One of us was from a Muslim country.
Again, it happened after 9/11.

After this, I really don't understand those poor mexicans' crawling through deserts... The doors are wide open, people!

Do you really think putting a million soldiers there solves this ?

Issue #2: The mexicans are coming, because US provides them with jobs. Illegals, of course.
Illegal immigration through the border is a symptom, whereas the (huge) US demand for cheap illegal labor is much more looks like a cause...
As long as there's demand, there'll be supply...

Are you gonna shoot the illegal workers as well ?
Why not start with the waiter and dishwasher in your favourite restaurant ? And don't forget about the hotel janitors. Car mechanics at cheap shops. Contstruction workers. Workers at food plants. Just a small list of people I've actually met during my 2 yrs here... and for each of these people there's someone who employs them.... Shoot them as well! Don't do a half job, man...

Putting the military on the border does not equate to shooting illegals. Again, i am tired of all this BS about jobs. When the unemployment rate is zero, then we can talk about filling jobs.
This excuse is just a way for businessmen to beat down the wage rates and exploit cheap, plentiful labor.

Troops on the Mexican border will help, but troops really can't see into the gas tank of a large truck to see if someone is hiding in there with a snorkel. The Canadain border is also very open. We need a special security force to root out all the terrorists already here(probably a few thousand, no less than a few hundred). They will continue to get in since we have that stupid open border trading thing. Nothing against hispanics, but they're the largest growing group in the U.S. because they can walk over here and get a job and not pay taxes, while getting paid to have kids. Minority rights is b.s.

tiv is right in that you can't fix the problem by addressing supply. But DanB has a good point too, if the unemployment rate were zero, then maybe we have an issue, its not so there are plenty of available workers although they may not be looking for a job washing dishes in a restaurant. What you should do is direct Mexico to become a stronger capitalistic state which it is trying to do and I think our government is also trying to help them do. however troops along both borders would certainly keep out anyone from coming in which we could use for a while until we find who is here plotting to hurt us. Once we pluck those bastar)(*&*(^&*(%^&^$^#%@#$!@@!@$%^%&(^*&^(*)&(*&_()*)(*) out then we can readdress the immigration thing.
