Let's see...during (or close to) the World Cup: an NBA team won the title for the 3rd straight year, MLB went through steroids/strike talk, and an NHL team with bought hall of famers won the Stanley Cup.
The World Cup made a joke out of American sports. It is the best/most exciting sporting event in the world.
However, it will never succeed in America, since it doesn't revolve around commercial breaks. The most popular sports in America do.
Trying to stir up a little controversy, eh?
The world cup was tolerable because of a decent showing by the US. But the sport itself is still utterly boring....there, now I will stir up some trouble.
