Actually, I just bought an MSI and don't know for certain that I'd recommend one.

Got mine for $99 including the Duron 1.2 in January/02 Volcano 6cu+ is a noisy beast, but good for $15.

Ram has dropped again, my local Fry's is selling 256MB DDR for $35 no rebate.

Does the DDR improve performance over PC133 greatly?

I have the Shuttle AK31 with an XP1600+, PAL Alpha 8045 and 2x256MB Crucial DDR ($61 shipped!). I think that shuttle board is about $70 now. Pricewatch is great, but any vendor needs to be verified. www.resellerratings.com

I just bought an Abit KG7-RAID for $59 on www.compgeeks.com. It uses PC 1600 or PC2100 DDR RAM. Already had 512MB of DDR RAM. Put an XP 1900+ on it. Then went and bought an Alpha PAL8045 heatsink ($39) and Vantec Tornado 80mm fan ($18) to go on it. This thing is HUGE!!! Plus the fan moves 85cfm at 60dBA!!!!! Heatsink and fan came from www.plycon.com.

I am debating between the Epox EP-83KA+ and the Gigabyte GA-7VRXP. Both have solid reviews. I probably wont be doing much overclocking to begin with, but I want to keep the options open. I like the 6 USB ports available with the Gigabyte. Prices are similar for both boards ~105 shipped.

The post about trying out buying from newegg is right on. Check out Resellerratings and look up newegg... over FIVE TIMES as many comments as ANY other reseller (1,000+) and still rated OVER 9.+ (out of a possible 10)
Thats really good.

I agree. I would rather spend the extra $9 and buy from a reputable place. I dont think that saving $$$ is worth a hassle.
