I will say one thing now that I have had to be under the hood of my '95 GL. Although the car is seven years old and has 170K on it EVERY wire anywhere close to the engine has cracked insulation. The insulation is hard an brittle on EVERY wire that is close to the engine! Obviously the normal operating temperature under the hood is above the point that the wires are rated at.

My wife's grandmother has a '81 Crown Vic and it has at least 170K on it. The wires on it are not burned! The vacuum lnes are another story!

I guess that Ford doesn't worry about wether or not wires will last 170K?

Kinda' pisses me off!
