after hearing/seeing several lightnings making dyno runs, that is most definitley the sound of a supercharger

Sounds like supercharger whine to me, of course if he had thrown on a smaller pulley = more boost than it would probably whine more as well.

all i have to say is mustangs were better in the 60s when they didnt need s/cs to make their power

I guess its not a Z06...which means its the 350HP version. On all tests that I have seen, the Z06 produces better numbers. I think the Cobra faster than a non z06 vette but needs a pulley swap to compete with the zo6.

Also..most mustangs of the 60's would get wasted by a 1989 LX coupe or a 1999 GT and newer. So new mustangs dont need to have a charger to make the power either.

A 2003 cobra would obliterate an older stock stang from the 60s. Heck I'm sure it would spank a shelby GT500 too.

but i bet if the vette had a s/c it would proly compete if not smoke that mustang

Bingo. The '03 Cobra seems to be one HECK of a Mustang, but you boost (S/C or TT) a LS1 or LS6 and you're standing on 550-600HP easy, at least from the kits I've looked at. Then it's just a matter of drivetrain, tires and suspension mods to keep all that on the ground (or at least try to). No flame here, as I really admire what SVT has done to the Cobra this year (much more than the Cobra R). It's finally got the guts it needed from the beginning.

As it is, though, I'm going to be looking (and listening) twice before stoplighting any Mustangs from now on.

One thing's for sure. A lot of new Cobra owners are going to be giving stock LS1 owners and even a few LS6 owners heartburn...

Shelby put a Paxton supercharger on some of his Cobras in the late 60's, so your statement is not at all accurate.

all im doing is saying that i hate the mustang in most all of its forms and firmly belive that the corvette is a superior car in all aspects
