Time in the military can't hurt. Practice push-ups, sit-ups and running a month before you go. Don't laugh at anything that goes on..they won't think it is funny. Be patient, there will be a lot of hurry up and wait. Teamwork counts, help others. Try to keep and exhibit a positive attitude.
I hope you like the outdoors. If you go in September, it could get cold by the end of Advanced Training and you will march a lot and stand a lot, and shoot a lot outdoors. It is probably a good time to go...not too hot or cold. If there is a particular job you want, go on the delayed entry program until there is an opening for that training. Do well on the ASVAB...that will determine what training you are eligible for.
Make sure you sign up for whatever G.I. bill savings plan they have going. Try to get Germany if you can so you can drive the autobahn!! Not as easy to get as it used to be.
Good luck future soldier.
