Of course he has a right to say it! Like I said, I'd never deny ANYONE the right to say what is on their mind. However, his gripe was WHY things about religion/politics/etc were being posted on the Contour site. I was stating, simply enough, that from my observations, the "off topic" area was for precisely that...and that you also have the option NOT to read the posts. I think it is great to have an area where people of mutual interests can have discussions, or even heated banter, if you will...about anything related to current events. It shows there is much more to everyone here than just cars...

BTW, Andy W, this is the second time I've found myself agreeing with you of late. Not sure if that's a good thing :p Everyone should agree with me! Life would be much simplier! LOL! -Andy

[Rant] Antonio, I think your wrong. The only reason you see any bible thumping is because certain people on the boards have taken it upon themselves to enlighten us poor wreached souls that do have faith. I could careless about "their" opinion.
However you are right about it not needing to be here. Open debate of religion and the existence of man has never solved anything on the existence of God or offered faith in God to those who don't want it. All it serves is a Catalyst to split people into segments, encourage group profiling, and discrimintation. The problem is that people on both sides see it as their duty to argue until they convince the other person they are right, which in 99.99999999999999% of the cases will never happen. Do "you" like having a pointless quest? Is the selfgratification of looking down on another worth it? [/Rant]

I just like to debate, it used to be done with some maturity and respect for one another, but as of late that hasn't been happening. There were debates in the past which were carried out calmly, well structured and with good results. But lately many of these have started as a piss off topic or rapidly deteriorate into one. I remember one debate started by Ed C. which in the end all the participants expressed how well they felt the debate had gone and then gave each other a rating. It would be nice to get back to those kinds of debates where all parties walked away with a good feeling about what they had just participated in.

Kind of a chance to take a walk in someone elses shoes so to speak. One of the things I think is great about this site! Keep 'em coming EdwardC and crew! My thoughts exactly!

Anyway, the recent posts on the Pledge controversy have NOTHING to do with religion per se. Only the right to be WITHOUT religion. There is a big differnce.
i do not belive in God. That said, I can accept many references to God in public life, such as art and memorials, and prayer in Congress. It is symbolic tradition amongst adults. What many are offended by is our children being brainwashed by the public school system to believe in one god or the other.
Many of you will shudder when you get what you want and Muslim majority school systems begin to appear. It may happen, Islam is the fastest growing religion on the world.
Religion should be taught in the home, not the school.
Funny that the WWII generation did without the reference to God in the pledge. I guess they were heatherns.
Keep the off topic posts coming. Like I said before, I enjoy the company. That is what it is for.
And, PLEASE, kill the dumb-ass comments to leave America if you don't like it. You that say some are idiots and un-American. With your line of thought, here is America...only white male landowners allowed to vote, slavery is legal, women are not allowed to vote, "seperate but equal" under Pleasey vs. Ferguson is still the law of the land, children can work in factories, lynching is an acceptable form of punishment, damn I could go on forever with changes in America brought about by progressive thinking.
Let's keep debate open to logic and not hate and closemindedness. We can all learn from each other with some decorum.
