Nothing personal, but Cisco's post on "Thought police" and "fascism" really rubs me wrong...
Public outcry is now thought police?
People wanting to say the pledge of allegiance is fascism?

I would think that the opposite would be true.
If you don't want to say it, don't say it. The great thing about America is that you are free to practice your religion. The price you pay is actually
quite high. You have to allow me to practice mine. It may suck. You may hate me and all I stand for. I don't really care. You can pray to Allah,
Buddah, or every damn tree in your local park. Doesn't bother me. Just be prepared for me to say, "GOD" wherever and whenever I damn well please.

Welcome to America.
Freedom of religion....Not freedom from religion.
However, I guess you can't get your point across without those magical words that get everybody riled up...

Sorry...the original intent of my post changed about halfway through.

Remove any religious overtones, and you can still get my drift.

The great thing about this country is that you are allowed to do what you want (to some degree). The price is that you have to put up with others doing what they want.

A different example is goth kids.
They look silly, those boys in black dresses, but I'll take boys in dresses over true thought police and fascism any day.

I don't mind who you believe in. I hope it makes you and your life happy. What I do mind is all the bible thumping on this board. Last time I checked it said contour.org not christian.org. All of these useless(IMHO) posts have really turned me and a few away from this board. Please I beg all of us to leave these types of threads out of contour.org

I am done with this matter.

Hmmm...So we disagree...Is that why I shouldn't have posted this?
I guess if we don't agree with Antonio, he and others will not like the CEG anymore...

For one thing, most (if not all) of the religious posts made on this forum is started by EdwardC, Cisco and other atheists/agnostics. It is the Christians who post on these threads to try to balance the views and defend against the blatant attacks. IIRC, there has never been a Christian or Bible-bias thread attacking atheists/agnostics.

Secondly, this is the Off Topic forum. If you don't want to read about the topic on the thread, then leave.

You know I did not mean it like that so don't get it twisted. The threads don't belong period.

I agree both sides need to stop.(Antonio)

So I can write topics about raping women and beating up old people?? Hey if you don't like it don't read it right?

That argument does not hold up. Like I said before they don't belong here. If I wanted to read about god I don't think I www.contour.org would be my first choice.. would it?

Well, that's pretty much the spirit of the thread...You're free to write whatever you want.

Will you be appearing in every non-Contour related thread in the Off-Topic Forum to complain about it's off-topicness?

All right, if you are going to quote me, don't add something I didn't say.

Religion is legal. Rape is NOT legal. Come on Antonio, use a little common sense.

If these topics where in the General Forum, then yes, they should not be there. But, in the OFF TOPIC forum, they do not have to involve Contours!! If you are so sensitive to certain topics, then don't read this forum.
