Maybe it should be re-phrased as a fool questions God.....
If a deity exists or not...a question is the only way one can obtain an answer. Which is better? To remain silent and live with a misconception or to ask and have that misconception corrected?
Question everything - even authority.
How does believing in God hurt us? It doesn't. Most of us that believe in God believe that we need to live good and decent lives to go to heaven. I think most people would rather do that just in case there is a God then not do it and find out later that you are going to hell. So why question it?[/b]How does NOT believing in God hurt us? Your statement makes it sound that those who don't believe in God don't live good and decent lives.
I beg to differ. While I myself don't participate in any organized religion, I still live a good, decent, and just life, and I don't do so under the pretense of being a good Christian, nor out of fear of eternal damnation, but because I was taught what is right and wrong.[/b]
I appologize if it came across that way. I was just saying that most organized religion tells people that they have to do the things mentioned to go to heaven. People can live good lives without religion. What I was trying to say is why not live good lives just in case there is a God and then you will be rewarded after this life. If there indeed is no God then you will make your life and others life here on Earth more enjoyable.
