It seems Home Depot has had a change of heart... From the business section of the paper this morning, they have reviewed and reversed their policy regarding government sales. What do you think... think they changed their mind because of public scrutiny?

Maybe because they didn't give a clear reason as to why they were doing it and the backlash was too hot as you allude to. Kind of silly to begin with, I doubt anyone would have noticed they were selling that much to the government and they probably could have disputed their characterization as a "contractor." Then again I never saw the numbers to compare gov't revenue to the cost of complying (sp?) with the regulations. I hardly ever go there anyway... :rolleyes:

I'm sure, but I highly doubt that any government agencies buy products in mass quantities from any retail chain like Home Depot when the government has the ability to deal with wholesalers directly (ie pay through the nose, like for $600 toilet seats!  ).

I am a Gov. purchasing agent, and we rarely do purchase from companies such as Home Depot. We do have 'Mandatory Sources of Supply', agencies like JWOD or GSA. Unicor also. These are generally inmate or handicapped made items, and they have it all. Home Depot would be used only for small purchases, ie. anything under $2500.
