Well, this is obviously very sensitive topic but;

If they hadn't screwed with the Pledge back in '54, this would have not happened.

I am an athesist so I guess I should pack up and go somewhere else?

WTF? You guys need to look at America and its demographics. There are many other religions in this country and I'm sure the majority of you frown upon anything but beleiving in the "good book". Country was based upon the fact that anyone could come here without religious persecution, now you guys are persecuting those that do not conform to your beliefs.

Please have an open mind.

No one is telling you to leave because you are an atheist (sp?).

Exactly. No one asked people that don't believe in God to leave. What I am upset about is that we can't even mention God without someone getting all up in arms about it.

Freaky story I don't know is any of you guys listen to love line. Adam Corrala is a big atheist and he once said if there is a god in some way shape or form show us a sign this was broadcasted from the west coast to the east coast well it turns out after he said that the whole east coast was knocked out off the air for like 15 seconds. Makes you think!

I am an aetheist (sort of).
I don't believe in the Christian God anyway.
But I believe in a "God".
God does not equal Christian, it equals spirituality.
There is nothig wrong the Pledge of Allegiance, or "In God We Trust" on money, or the mentioning of God in the constitution.
None of these references say a Christian God, just a God, which could be any God.
I personally think the Pledge of Allegiance should be required in school and Flag burning should be illegal.
It is not freedom of speech/expression, it is a sign of disrespect to the country and all those who faught/died for that flag.

My brother did just point out something interesting after reading that......the US was founded on the principal of separation of church and state. So why would we speak of religion in the Pledge, or Constitution for that matter.

I honestly don't agree with him...he is my brother. smile

The seperation of church and state has nothing to do with personal freedoms, it merely states that churches have no political power. The bill of rights is where the freedom of religion is brought into play.

If you believe in a god, you are not an atheist. Not sure what the dictionary definition is. Possibly Deist, or Agnostic. Maybe there ain't one...who knows.

Personally I'm somewhere between atheist and agnostic. All depends on the definition..since all definitions are broad statements anyways.

Of course there is no requirement to believe in god in order to be allegient to the country. And never will be.

No, no, no...that isn't what I'm getting at. Hell, you could consider me agnostic. My particular point is this:

Why do we have to have the courts decide every little thing that's allowable and what isn't? I'm not speaking of murder, robbery, rape, etc. What I'm talking about is kids not being able to play kickball (or whatever it was) in school, making it unconstitutional to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, I can't say "piss" in front of coworkers because they may get sand in their pussy, etc. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Maybe a different angle should be used. From now on, I'm offended by everyone else being offended. I'm offended that this society doesn't have the balls to stand up for itself and tell someone its opinion on a subject or to STFU because your whiney voice is getting on my nerves. We should all have those rights.

I'm also offended by HOAs laugh
