You are so wrong!
Most Games are not larger than 700MB and will fit on 1 CDR. The backup dealers sell them for $2. The going rate on the net.
DVDR copies are only used when contents of disc are larger than 700mb. The ripped copy often will delete extra videos or soundtracks in order to get the disc down to 700MB.
DVDR backups cost $10, shipping is usually free!
Many first gen PS2 games actually were put on a CDR from Sony as the cost is significantly cheaper.
Sony charges its software game companies 90 cents for the DVDR + disc label + burn.
