It can go above the minimum wage, but the Govt set's the minimum, minimum wage...which I thought was 5.50 as well...

I thought minimum wage was $6.15? Oh well. Props to you Rachel for not sticking with that place. I hope they lose all their employees. We get a shift pay for working crappy hours and they're trying to take that away from us. If they do, I'm going to singlehandedly make sure everyone quits there. The power is in the people!

lol - min. wage here is 6.75 --- feel free to move up!

Believe it or not, at Burger King (where I work) I am getting paid 7.25, which is much better than a lot of other places offer. What sucks is that I left for a half year and when I came back they hired me back at $.10 less than I had been making when I left! Oh well; I'm not complaining.

P.S. Don't quit till you know you have a job lined up. I found that out the hard way.

Welcome to corporate mentality. the resort I work at has a great staff, i like my bosses, but the corporate folk who own us are dicks, can't seem to afford to buy us a new headlight for a van but can buy a whole new property.......
on a side note, both country songs mentioned are good tunes..

That sucks. That's why I'm glad we have a union at Electrolux. We just scored an across the board 50 cent an hour payraise.

BTW, the song is "Little Man" by Alan Jackson.

Little Man
(Alan Jackson)

I remember walk'in round the court square sidewalk
Lookin' in windows at things I couldn't want
There's johnson's hardware and morgans jewelry
And the ol' Lee king's apothecary
They were the little man
The little man

I go back now and the stores are all empty
Except for an old coke sign from 1950
Boarded up like they never existed
Or renovated and called historic districts
There goes the little man
There goes the little man

Now the court square's just a set of streets
That the people go round but they seldom think
Bout the little man that built this town
Before the big money shut em down
And killed the little man
Oh the little man

He pumped your gas and he cleaned your glass
And one cold rainy night he fixed your flat
The new stores came where you do it yourself
You buy a lotto ticket and food off the shelf
Forget about the little man
Forget about that little man

He hung on there for a few more years
But he couldn't sell slurpees
And he wouldn't sell beer
Now the bank rents the station
To a down the road
And sell velvet Elvis and
Second-hand clothes
There goes little man
There goes another little man

Now the are lined up in a concrete strip
You can buy the world with just one trip
And save a penny cause it's jumbo size
They don't even realize
They'er killin' the little man
Oh the little man

It wasn't long when I was a child
An old black man came with his plow
He broke the ground where we grew our garden
Back before we'd all forgot about the little man
The little man
Long live the little man
God bless the little man

Good for you Rach. Im with you, I wont work for anything less than $9-10 hr. Preferebly under the table wink I used to get $6/hr when I was 15 and in high school working in a bike shop. I was an avid mt biker so the discounts I got were worth it, plus it was less than a mile from my house and I worked with cool people

But times are a changin! Cars are more expensive to mod than bikes...lol

Okay first things first... minimum wage set by Federal Law is $5.50 i believe. But each state has their own ability to put their minimum wages higher. Here in Hawaii, it's $5.75. The funny thing is, I work at McDs, and our starting wage is $7.00/hr. As for Me, i'm making about $21k a year. A little more. Hopefully i'll get my promotion and make about 30k a year.

anyways, Why don't you just move to Hawaii?? get paida little more, and live in paradise laugh

Give me more beer and CEG before i get depressed!
