I had one when I was in fourth grade (on that stupid front tooth). It's not really painful until the Novacain (sp?) wears off. For me it was the strangest feeling, because they dug in from
behind and filled in. When they were digging out the nerve, it felt like somebody was shoveling out my tooth with a sewing needle. Very odd feeling indeed ...
Maybe I imagined the feeling (hey I was 9) but definite push/pull action was going on. If you're having it done to a molar, then it shouldn't be as bad. My friend had one done on her back tooth recently; it only hurt when the filling fell out within the day
which shouldn't happen to you.
