I neither have one nor have driven one. Just seen a couple on the streets with MFR plates and read an article.

I'm not sure what your probelm is. I'm not bashing. I'm sure the production models will be quicker than what the now two rag mags have shown. I have speculated (just as you have about its 65hp advantage) about some reasons why it may or may not be as quick as some people expect it to be. I don't call them facts. The only facts are what two magazines have gotten using test equipment thus far on two arbitray (maybe the same car) samples.

I do have experience with the Corba on which the engine in the Marauder is heavily based and it is realitively dead below 4000rpm. Based on the gearing of the Merc and the motor tendancies as a high rever to get the power, I can understand why it is slower than some people expect it. I have no idea how it compares to the regular Crown Vic or the Police Interceptor (never been in either). Maybe Ford restricted the head to cut down the 20hp vs. the old Cobra motor which would affect the bulk of the power - at high engine speeds. My point is that there is more to acceleration than peak Hp and torque.

I don't know if I believe the topic starter's story about driving one, but I don't automatically wave BS flag either.
