And, that is a good deal faster than any factory Interceptor. Again, he is full of s#!t.

Motor Trend=03 marauder 0-60 6.89sec. 1/4 mile=15.42/92.57 curb weight=4165lb. 300hp, torque=310@4250 I think a manual transmission would help it out. Zetechfun is the same guy that said he had B&M put some sorta tranny in his ATX,, the part # he said is RWD tranny.

Part of the problem is that the gearing is way too tall. 1st - 49mph @ redline, 2nd gear goes to 90mph and there is your quarter mile. Third hits the 117 limiter well before redline and 4th is obviously worthless for acceleration.

So you have one, or have driven one to redline then, APT? If not, then you are merely bashing a car of which you know nothing about, like the topic starter here. Until someone (credible) on these forums can post about their first-hand experiences, or until one of the rags posts hard, realistic numbers, all of this is mere speculation, not the facts you portray your opinions to be.

I neither have one nor have driven one. Just seen a couple on the streets with MFR plates and read an article.
I'm not sure what your probelm is. I'm not bashing. I'm sure the production models will be quicker than what the now two rag mags have shown. I have speculated (just as you have about its 65hp advantage) about some reasons why it may or may not be as quick as some people expect it to be. I don't call them facts. The only facts are what two magazines have gotten using test equipment thus far on two arbitray (maybe the same car) samples.
I do have experience with the Corba on which the engine in the Marauder is heavily based and it is realitively dead below 4000rpm. Based on the gearing of the Merc and the motor tendancies as a high rever to get the power, I can understand why it is slower than some people expect it. I have no idea how it compares to the regular Crown Vic or the Police Interceptor (never been in either). Maybe Ford restricted the head to cut down the 20hp vs. the old Cobra motor which would affect the bulk of the power - at high engine speeds. My point is that there is more to acceleration than peak Hp and torque.
I don't know if I believe the topic starter's story about driving one, but I don't automatically wave BS flag either.

What is not to understand. LooneyTunes who started this topic is smoking crack if he thinks they would be dead even in a race. I'm beginning to wonder if you aren't also....

Here's something I think we can all agree on: It should have the 5.4 in it!
I wouldn't be suprised if the marauder was indeed slower. While everyone's numbers seem to vary I wouldn't be suprised if it weighed more than the interceptor (without all the radios, and stuff cops usually have in the trunk). While it does make over 300 lb/ft of torque I doubt the heavy 18" wheels on the Marauder help much either.
While I haven't driven one yet, it will be a little while before I do as it's numbers (speed and price) both disapoint me

The Focus had a 'pre-call' IIRC. Kinda a bad sign if they're having problems before it is even really out for sale yet. Ford needs to stop redoing cars from the ground up and do the smart thing the Jap car companies do...only fix what needs fixing and improving. Redoing a whole car essentially throws all their experience in the garbage.
Oops, I was rambling there. :p
