I was very fortunate this weekende toget a sneak peak and drive of the mecrury maruder. I used to work for dealer ship that speccializes in new and rebulit police cars. (rebulit= wrecked cars)Im still very good friends with owner and he called me up to invite me to this. He knows I like fast cars. The result is that maruder is not at all waht ford makes it out to be. It is fast and does hadel very well for a boat but then again so does the police issue crown's. With a little of pursading I conviced the owner (and the mecrury reps) to line the maruder up with a 2002 crown interceptor. (I drove the intercptor)They where about nose to nose till 120 MPH then the interceptor started to walk away from the maruder. The maurder no matter what ford says appears to goverened at about 120 to 125. the interceptors are not. The interceptors because of weight and aerodynamics can only reach about 130 to 140 depending on the wind.If it has a light bar on it about 120. So if you want one these maurder's just by a interceptor and paint it monochromatic black and put the big mecruy wheels on it and no one will know diffrence. Kinda like the 95 impalla SS. one thing to note is that the maurder does have a nicer interior but i can help anyone out with that as well the interceptor if anyones intrested. The dealer ship I worked for also puts interceptor motors in normal crown's and marquis and has them calibrated. If you want to buy a police issuse look for CERTIFIED CALIBRATRION on the speedo. This lets you know its the real thing.

Oh by the way if anyone wants one of these police issues you can go to www.joewattauto.com Aol members have had a problem with the site. They also have a full line of late model rebulidables. He can probably get a SVT tour you'll just have to ask. I know hes had them in the past.

Hmmm, There are two "new" looking interceptors at used car lot that specializes in recent, and mostly Ford, trades. Both are white, but I've not looked at them too closely. I'd be leery of a retired police car, as they do live a hard life. A wrecked police car would scare me even more. Plausible that performance would be similar and the creature comforts would be much different. I dunno why I'm writing on this, I need to get back to work, but just can't bring myself to it yet TB

Yep, no way a car with ~65 more hp, more torque, and the same aerodynamics, weight transfer, weight, ~same tranny, is not going to stomp all over the Police Interceptor, unless they artifically boosted the interceptor's hp levels to match. I doubt any of what he stated was true.

You know im sorry i tried to give you the info of actully driveing the car before anyone else could. I was really hoping that the maurder was going to be one of those "oh my god" cars but it isnt. Im tired of sahring expreinces and advice with pepole just to be called liar you skeptal pepole can just see fro your self as for this site it has helped with me with couple minor problems but nothing worth sticking around taking this crap good by and good luck. And if this site dies look at your respones and try to figure out why all though they talk a good game know one will pay for membership.

The engine in the Marauder is a DOHC 4.6, almost the same as in last year's Cobra. The engine in the Interceptor is a SOHC 4.6, almost the same as in the current Mustang GT. Interceptor = 235 HP Marauder = 300+ HP Do the math, moron. As for the suspension, I don't know, but suspect that the Marauder will likely out-handle the Interceptor. The civilian "sport" version of the Crown Vic has out-handled the Interceptor for years, largely due to the Interceptor's greater weight (body structure bracing and other such things). If you are going to lie, at least make it believeable so you can fool some of the people.
