I'm using CompuServe because I've used it since I bought my IBM PS2-30 in 1987 and have found it to be consistently reliable, not knocking me offline as my friends' ISP's do. The CompuServe issue, as I understand it, is that CompuServe expects the username and password to be in a single "packet" (forgive me if I'm using the wrong terminology), which works fine for Win98SE on my, my son's, and my wife's machines, but Win2000 for "security" reasons, will not allow passwords to be stored and will not send a username and password in a single packet. So there is a workaround script (scrip?) file on the CompuServe website that supposedly fixes the Win2000 problem, but doesn't work on the Dell. Soooo, according to our tech guy at work, it's a Microsoft-caused problem (and given the security holes in their software, it seems rather ironic), that CompuServe fixed, but the fix doesn't work on the laptop because of a Dell firmware issue.

When I want to wash clothes, I turn the Maytag to "on"....
