This is tragic.
This is the sort of thing the inertia fuel cutoff switch is designed to prevent. All Fords since sometime in the 80s (my 88 Mustang GT has one) are equipped with one. It cuts power to the fuel pump in the event of a collision to prevent a fire from fuel spraying everywhere in the engine compartment.
Does the '96 Suburban have one? Anyone know?
If these aren't required by law, Ford should be commended for their decision to install them!
