I read again you post Cisco.... and I think ( I hope) you not really "attacking" people that love soccer but really trying to point that
It occurs to me that if we devoted even a tenth as much of our time and attention to, oh, say, something that actually mattered, the world could be a much better place. .
In that case... I believe you forgot to mention ALL the things that disctract us from focusing on making the world a better place. Not only few soccer games. And if that IS the case... I have to agree with you... that SHOULD be the way to live... but unfortunately it is NOT.
