...my crystal ball is telling me HD has an IRS audit in their future... laugh

10 minutes with that **** and I'm thinking a reversal of policy may come about.

I don't know, but if it was me and my company, I don't think I'd go about things this way. If they aren't paying their bills, or carrying them WAY past term, update your T's & C's to where the penalty of non-payment or late payment is outrageous and non-negociable.

Hell, credit card companies do it, in that your interest skyrockets the moment you prove to be an unsound cardholder (nonpayments, constant late payments, etc.)

Making a blanket statement about not doing business with the government is a bit reckless, especially when not going into any firm details. It's a PITA dealing with the government when selling things to them given the sheer amount of paperwork, red tape and billing issues that come up, but if Home Depot feels like they have too many customers on their hands and that their pockets are too fat for all the cash they've got in them, I don't have a problem with it.

I do feel that a business should have the right to refuse service to anyone, and if they so choose, refuse service to a member of the service. I don't think it is cool to have to tell the uniformed kid that he can't have his 10 gallons of paint, but I do however feel that the Government is full of bull****. If we only knew 1/10th of what they have tried to hide from us over time since our wonderful Government was established, it would blow your mind. They aren't straight with us, so why be straight with them . I'm not referring to the ones of you who proudly serve in the armed forces, I mean the people that are higher on the "totem pole," who help make the big decisions.

I applaud their decision to not become a Government contractor and stand up for what they feel is right.

Mushu's pretty cool too!

A while back I saw some guy picketing HD, walking out front of the store with a sign around his neck that read "Home Depot called me a Spearchucker!". Was quite humorous. laugh

Guys we are talking about business that is non-contract. We are talking about government employees walking in with a Mastercard and making a purchase. Mastercard is going to send HD a check pretty quick and if the gov't doesn't pay mastercard then interest charges will accumulate. Either way HD is getting the dough from Mastercard. And HD is no little guy w/ $53 Billion in sales that's probably #10 or 20 on Fortune 500. It's hard to get any bigger, IOW I'm sure they manage their receivables with their best interest in mind.

I think the reason things don't get done properly in Washington is too much bickering and adversarialism i.e. Dems vs. Rep. trying to court favor with voters by trumping up one side's mistake or twisting around facts to suit whatever agenda is being pushed. Sad, but this government system was established by the USA's founding fathers with the people's best interest in mind. The system is not the problem, the execution of the governement's responsibilities is what is. People want the governemnt to be responsible for everything (medicare, SS, defense) and not have their hand in anything at the same time because they're overreaching. Pretty tough.

Not sure credit or slow payments are the issue.

From article:

"OoA third scenario uses a customer who pays cash and asks Home Depot to deliver the
purchase to a federal address. The customer is told no, and he asks to rent a Home Depot
truck. "Since you are aware that the transaction is for the federal government, you cannot
process it," the document says."
