and u better thank god that Chris Webber punked out in OT or your beloved lakers would have fallen. next year they won't be so lucky... Everyone loves saying that...But people have been hoping for the Lakers to faulter since the first title,,,first, people doubted if they could win with Glen Rice,,,then if they could win without him...well, they did both. NOW, the same can be said for the roles of Fisher and Fox. against Sacramento, they played like crap scoring wise...if they would have shot consistently better like they did against the Nets, Sacramento would have had a tougher time defending,,,It was basically a 2.5 man show against Sacramento, and that was enough!! The only time someone should talk trash is when winning...when sacramento beats the lakers in a series, then they can talk, or their fans..otherwise show some class like hocley players do!

first of all, Mike Bibby damn near took out the Lakers single handedly and if you consider the fact that the Kings were playing with a very injured Stojakovic who is DEADLY come playoff time, that pretty much negates your little Fox/Fisher scenario there. If you wanted to go that route, I could easily say the refs screwed divac and that doug christie wasnt a fraction of how effective he's been in times past. But we won't go that route.
instead i'll give it up to the lakers for finding a way to win when the series is on the line like all true NBA champions before them. but if you're a laker fan, you know damn well you were sh*tting bricks throughout that series and realize it could've easily gone the other way...

I was kind of hoping that the Wings would lose, not because I don't like the team, I have the utmost respect for Yzerman, Fedorov, Chelios, etc., but because of how everyone in the city suddenly turns into a die-hard wings fan as soon as the playoffs start, when in reality, half the people going crazy in the streets last night couldn't name more than 5 people on the team. It would have been a lot of fun making fun of all these instant fans if they had lost.
Mickey Redmond had a great quote talking to Drew and Mike on 101.1 WRIF this morning. "After Detroit dropped the first two games to Vancouver, a lot of people hurt their backs jumping off the bandwagon, then couldn't climb back on fast enough when they started winning."
I guess I really shouldn't complain, I assume it happens in every major city, and there were probably a lot more people were jumping on the bandwagon in Carolina than in Detroit.
But watch out next year, Montreal's taking it all!

that's a timeless contradiction with all sports teams that gain success, everybody loves a winner. unless you're a diehard fan, you're not going to have the time or interest to be there when things aren't going well. but everything is gravy when they're winning. dave, how many years did we have to watch lindsey hunter miss open lay-ups and grant hill flake out in big games before the Pistons were actually something to talk about?

That would be approximately 9 years of piston turmoil, Terry. Pistons for 200.00, please.

So there is something wrong with booing the Canadian National Anthem?
Of course the Lakers shot better against the Nets, the defense was a lot worse.

first of all, Mike Bibby damn near took out the Lakers single handedly Bibby did an awesome job no doubt,,,But its the sulking that the other players constantly display that is a turnoff...The Kings are a great team, but the subtle and no so subtle body language shows a lot...Lakers were shi**ng bricks maybe, but I didnt see them sulking.... back to hockey,,,,Lets go LA Kings in 2002/3
