So it begins.

I agree up until the part about Islam turning people into terrorists.

Other than that, I pretty much agree with the guy.

Thank God I'm Catholic That's freaking terrible, though. I can't believe that someone as politically and religiously powerful would make a statement like that with his peers. What the hell is the world coming to?

Please nobody take offence at this joke;

A cowboy, indian, and muslim are sitting at the bar.

Not so fast there Catholic, I seem to remeber your church doing some mighty nasty things back in the 17th and 18th century, not to mention the current stand your religion has on Protestans.

It's also an established fact that marriages of young women to older men existed in biblical times as well, among the Hebrews, Eqyptians, Philistines, etc., etc. Marriage at a young age existed, too.

There's a reason I no longer spiritually associate with the Southern Baptist church (even though I grew up as one), and this is yet another picture perfect reason of why I don't to this day and probably never will. I'm currently a mix of Catholic and Presbyterian belief/creed, which would probably have Martin Luther nailing my a$$ to the church doors in his day and the Spanish Inquisitors setting me up on a rack for a nice relaxing hour of torture in their day (I never said I was sane)...

I agree that Islam COMBINED with certain socio-political and historical elements makes for a damn dangerous breeding ground, but Islam itself in NO WAY makes folks strap C4 to themselves and proceed to maim and massacre people, just as it doesn't make people fly planes into buildings.

I'd say it's a mix of things. Lack of education, far too much racial/ethnic/tribal tensions, simple minds and having too many motivational and influential nutcases passing themselves off as holy men. I'm sorry, but the Middle-East is no longer the bastion on knowledge that it was 800-1000 years ago. Culturally it's stagnated over the years in many ways, which hasn't helped matters.

Unfortunately, just because someone can read the Koran doesn't mean they understand the tone and meaning behind it. Same goes for the Bible.

This reverend needs to have his head checked with a ball-ping hammer...

Islam is a pagan based religion. The Koran is a rambling mess of nonsense that advocates killing in the name of Allah. Muhammed was a murderer and rapist.

I'm glad somebody has the guts to stand up to these minority fringe groups who are counter-culture to what America was built on - namely EUROPEAN CHRISTIAN values!!!!!!!!!! Its high time we take it back!

All religions do not have the same god. One can only find salvation through Jesus Christ, not Allah, Buddha, Krishna or other false, fictitous deities!

Up until we booted the Taliban even futher back into the Stone Age than they already were, I would prety much agree. The US historically hasn't given a damn about the region until sizeable oil deposits were found. Then came along the formation of Israel in 1948, which tied our interests down even further in that area, for various reasons which I don't want to even start going into here.

Fact is, tribal wars, climate, lack of natural resources (barring oil, which not every Middle-Eastern nation has tons of like Saudia Arabia), cultural/religious quirks, etc. have pretty much kept the entire region where it was 200-300 years ago. Think of it as Lawrence of Arabia with telephone poles, Toyota trucks, digital wristwatches and rocket launchers instead of camels, swords and Mausers. You can get killed there much more efficiently today than yesterday, but it seems that libraries, arts, literature, film, poetry, schools, medical facilities and about everything else that qualifies an advancing civilization is missing to a large extent.

Again, that's what a combination of constant warring factions, extremist views, lack of money/natural resources and intolerance will get you.

There'a severe need for Middle-Eastern countries to address their internal problems before they EVEN try to go point the finger to the West.

...perhaps we need to start exporting 12-step program leaders that speak Arabic instead of missionaries...

Hell, at this point, I think a lot of people are willing to try anything...

Before you open your mouth and impress us all with you stupidity, learn the facts;

The US was founded on Quaker beliefs, not Christian.
Islam is not pagan, its diety based.
Buddha is not a God to any religion, as Buddhism is not a religion but a way of thinking/life.
Allah was recognized by muslims not as a God, but as a messenger of God, like Jesus.

What the hell is a fictitious deities? Is that an unreal way to lose weight?
