Why would GM bother with another Catera? Until I see it in the showroom, I won't believe it! This is not a futuristic drawing/conception. This car is currently available in Australia, with slightly less hp than what GM here "wants" it to have.

Don't hold your breath waiting for it. MAJOR and EXPENSIVE conversions required, including redoing all the plastics involved. Seems that Ozzie plastic doesn't like the cold.

"GM is building another Catera, the Caddy CTS" NO NO NO
The CTS is all new platform, made in the USA, and the engine is highly revised. This is the all new Sigma platform and there has been talk of using it in other models. This I see happening more than importing from OZ.
Also, I agree about the "don't hold your breath" part. A year ago GM said they were going to make the Buick Bengel, where is it? NADA
2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO. Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

"If they build it I will cum!" Man there are a sh iteload of now-it-alls in here! Firstly maybe 2% of the CEG has ever seen a Holden or HSV in the flesh, yet a lot of people on here seem to know EVERYTHING about them. PLEASE!!! Being an Australia, who lived there for 22 years, I thimk, no I KNOW, that I know more about the Holden than any of you guys in here. No that I have probably turned turned the proverbial "flamethrowers" onto myself I will continue with facts. The Holden Commodeore is about the same size as a 5 Series and typically has a live or as we call it in the industry, a "Salisbury" rear axle. But Holden plans to move all the passneger car based Commodore over the IRS's. In Oz you can gfet it with the good old Buick 3.8L V6, the same engine again but blown (a la GTP), 302ci V8 pushrod donk, and more recently the quad cam Corvette based LS1. And hers something else, they still use OBD1! so it is a tuners paradise, although I guarantee that it would be switched to OBD2 if it came stateside. Mind you a crack-smokin, heroin-injectin', speed-swallowing body-in-white designer form the arse-tek camp will probably make it so F'en ugly that it will be another GM red-headed step-child. I hope not as I would buy a GTS for my next car if they leave it be. As for the change over to US friendly specs, it shouldn't take too long, but 2 years is a bit much, especially seein first-hand how fast GM pushes projects though, e.g. the H2 (which I designed the rear axle shafts for!) Now all you assclowns with half -baked ideas and silly comparisons can flame all you want, I couldn't give a rats-arse! PS give me one of these - anyday! 400hp Cheers, mate! PPS - If you don't consider that a sports sedan then you are out to lunch!

Last time I checked the LS1 was a pushrod engine with only 1 camshaft. Oh Mr. know-it-all :p I too think it's one hell of a nice car and probably one of the best things in GM's line-up. So of course we don't get it...

Although this IS good news I wonder how much merit it does have. I say this because GM can't make enough of the Impalas right now, so why would they scrap that platform and replace it with the Commadore? I see this as a "big risk" for GM, taking a hot selling car and changing it completely. The flip side to this is telling all the old people that RWD is back, just like the one that was in your first Impala back in 1958 Atleast there doing something "balsy" and thats good for GM, if they do it :p
