Not that I'm a Red Wings fan in any way, but you could tell throughout the whole playoffs that they were going to win it. Even when they went down 2-3 to the Avs and had to play Game 6 in Denver, you didn't count them out. There is far too much talent, experience, and history on that team to settle for anything less than the Cup this year.
I think Hasek is way underrated, and that Roy is overrated. Hasek has come up big in the big games. I remember on several occasions where Roy gave up a goal because of a lapse in basic technique. It's true that Hasek has a better supporting cast, and I'm not saying he is better than Roy, I just don't think Roy's shadow should be as dark as it is.
Roy is the more consistent fundamentally sound goalie. Hasek is extremely unorthodox but both are two of the top goalies ever. Granted, Roy has historically had a better supporting cast, but 4 cups is pretty amazing. On the other hand, Hasek bringing a pathetic Buffalo team within a few minutes of a Stanley cup is also amazing, as is the gold medal and the 6 Vezinas and 2 MVPs.
I am probably biased, but I would consider Hasek just a shade better than Roy because of the dramatic wins in addition to overall solid play. That puts him at #3 on my list of the best goalies ever behind Sawchuck and Tretiak (sp??). If Dom comes back and wins another cup with DRW, then he may pass Tretiak on my list.
