if the majority of officers in my area were like Sandman my stress level would be reduced dramatically.

What a funny post. LMFAO at redhawk. way to call em out. Anyway on to the fun....

Like all you guys have never illegally passed anyone while in a hurry. Come on, don't be a bunch of hypocritic a$$holes.

Here's another twist.

1. perhaps the cop was on the radio as he was tailgating you, which made him hold off on passing you until he could totally concentrate on getting around you in a dangerous area.

2. Perhaps (and highly likely) the cop was doing one of two things...either responding to a call or patrolling and trying NOT to draw attention to himself more than necessary OR perhaps he was responding to a call and DID NOT want to blind everyone with his flashing blue strobes more than necessary.

I don't like being stopped for tickets...but usually, you or something about your car provokes them to become suspicious of you being a violator...sux, but its their job to jerk punks a new one. So guess what? Don't be a dumbass and usually you'll be fine.

Occasionally you'll run across an overzealous cop, or one that tends to "use the system" but don't be so hypocritical to cast judgement upon every cop or try to play it off like you wouldn't take advantage of some of the perks of being in blue yourself if you walked in his shoes. Casting every cop as a renegade vigilante is socially irresponsible, and some comments here make laugh as they are just retorts coming from your own unfortunate incident with the boys in blue.

This all said from someone who is NOT a perfect driver and absolutely ABHORS traffic tickets.

No, I have a strong sense of right and wrong and I would never abuse any power given to me because I would not be comfortable doing such.

Believe it or not, but that's the way I am. Too many people using the excuse "well, wouldn't you do it too.."

Good Lord, the guy posts about an officer doing some odd driving, that could be interpreted several ways, and then asks questions about how most people interpret these sorts of things, and what it does to the general reputation of cops, and you assume he is pissing and moaning and bashing cops.

Sandman, I really do wish more officers were like you, but the fact remains, that there are a lot of them that are just plain pricks, and like to abuse thier power (oh boy do I have some stories about one cop in particular) thankfully these jerks are not the majority. And for the record I am most certainly not a "cop hater" by any stretch.

It's all about balance.

Police get painted as the bad guys no matter what happens, it's a crap deal, quite frankly I believe it's a crappy job too. I think most of this comes from a lack of public relations, and no I dont mean the once a year barbeque and your kids get a hug from mcgruff. As I see cops, I just see them flying around in their cars. Maybe the solution is to get them out onto the streets again on foot patrol, I know fantino(toronto police chief) had suggested it awhile back and I kinda like the idea, it would give the officers a chance to meet more people(instead of just having to deal with punks and brats trying to prove something) and the people would see that the cops are human and aren't there to give them a hard time. This is just the way I see it if you can add anything to it I'd like to hear it!!!

"usually you'll be fine", thats bullsh*t. if you think that police profiling isn't a serious issue, you're dead wrong.

Its only a problem if you fit their profile. Fortunately for me I don't. Therefore, its not a problem for me (unless I get caught up in the middle of a no cruise zone or something) and quite frankly me is all I'm concerned about.
