I like Chevron Supreme w/ Techron, 92 octane. Although a local company Tesoro sells some specialty stuff, 101+ octane. But I don't think the Zetec was really designed with 101+ octane gas in mind, so I don't see the need for it. But the muscle car guys love it.

If you go to the airport, you can get 101 oct. and 100 ll (low lead) I suggest 101ll. that's what I use in my car as a daily driver. 3.50/gal is a decent price too. noo actually I don't. But lets say I was going to the track. Would 101 oct be bad for a contour svt? Just wondering

The local Kum & Go here in Jefferson vends some high quality diesel fuel, so that's where I do most of my fueling. A little Diesel Kleen additive and I'm good to go.

The usual stations here are Amoco, Conoco, Chevron (my favorite), Citgo, and handful of Sinclairs, and Flying J stations near the freeway.
Flying J did have a thing years ago about a special additive they had. Agua.
The Contour and even the `80 Ramcharger both run better if I keep the Citgo far, far away from their fuel tanks. Amoco and my parents are in a lawsuit right now, so obviously I don't go there.

Neat site Java! Stolen from Chevron's site: Fuel Leaning Oxygenated gasoline leans the air-fuel mixture of carbureted engines and fuel injected engines which don't have an electronic control module (ECM) (see Chapter 5). Engines with ECMs become fuel lean when the ECM is not controlling - when the engine is cold or the vehicle is being accelerated rapidly. The rest of the time, the ECM adjusts the air-fuel ratio to compensate for the oxygen in the fuel. If a carburetor is set to provide a very fuel rich mixture, fuel leaning might improve performance. Otherwise, fuel leaning can degrade driveability; the extent depends on the engine's calibration. This did make me wonder. On a vehicle like ours, if the fuel is going to make the car run lean, it is going to add more fuel to compensate. The point of the oxygenated fuel is to produce fewer CO and HC. What is that going to help if the car needs more fuel just to get around?

Only Chevron or Amaco touch my tank anymore. I've read too much about Techron to NOT be putting it in my tank. If there's no Chevron around, then I find an Amaco.
92 or 93 octane for me.
