I have about 2 weeks untill they FIRE me. I've NEVER been fired before... and I can't afford to loose this job... I make 12.20 an hr..... and I have bills and what not...... IS there any law protecting me from what they're doing? I've even went to my bosses and asked for help... They just BS me and screw me anyway. Favortisim is a big problem too..... anyway, I would like to be prepared to seek legal action if the need be. ..... so any help would be great....

Sounds like Electrolux. Big corporations suck!

Elizabeth, as is my understanding of Iowa employment law, if you quit a job and file for unemployement, your employer can contest it and it goes before arbitration. In Iowa, the law states that they DO NOT have to have a specific reason to fire you, which helps because they cannot contest your filing for unemployment if you get fired. I could be wrong but this is from overhearing bits and pieces of a conversation at the Iowa Workforce Development office, where people file for unemployment.

My advice, jaydog, go by your nearest IWD office and ask them what your options are.
