I don't get it! He decides not to give you a ticket for crimes you WERE committing, and then asks you if you want to plead guilty to an offence you DIDN'T commit?
He should have picked one of the lesser laws you WERE breaking like maybe speeding, or aggressive driving.
That story is ridiculous.
Oh yeah - In befo da lock!

Ridiculous maybe, but I'm not complaining.. I think I got lucky and got a cool cop who likes Porsches, but couldn't just let me go w/o any ticket, or he wouldn't be doing his job. Nonetheless, the lesson has been learned. A BMW 540i tried to tempt me on my drive home today, and I just kept going 50mph, while he blew by. I should have bought a lottery ticket, but it never dawned on me.

Actually - You got an A$$hole cop not interested in doing his job. Not a cool cop for sure!
I have no tolerance for street racing seeing as my sister was once left in a coma after the accident caused by a Porsche racing down the street. (yes she is fully recovered now, 13 years later)
Sorry cartman, you deserved all that the law allowed on this one, if there were street lights it wasn't a highway where the speed should be taken to.

[paranoid rant on] That story is kinda weird but there is a big push here in Michigan right now for our cops to specifically write click-it-or-ticket type tickets. I wonder if this is not some multi-state conspiracy to make revenue from a non-point offense as opposed to hurting peoples lives by threatening their ability to drive. I mean, for the most part traffic enforcement is simply revenue generation. An alternative tax so to speak. But if too many people get too many points they can not drive (hence, not work) hurting the overall economy. But the various states still want to tax you without realizing it so the focus on seatbelt tickets. And with "focus" comes quotas. So cops will be looking for ways to write seatbelt tickets. My god, you participated in a conspiracy to defraud the nations justice system. Freakin commie!!! [/paranoid rant] Or maybe he has arthritis and did not want to write that many tickets .

Also the fact that its an election year, is what I hear helps people out. That came straight from a cop that is a family friend. She told me to go and try to fight my 18 over, which I wasnt doing, and the officer decided to plead bargain it down to public misdemeanor in an auto, which is 0 points versus the 3 I would have received.

The officer doesn't decide anything in most states. That is your States or District Attorney.

Jezz man harsh, Clueless? Ouch. So clue me in then. You gonna tell me that revenue generation does not factor into overall ticket writing? That speed traps don't exist? The bulk of my rant was humor and not to be taken seriously, I thought I had made it absurd enough to be taken that way.
I have always thought your posts provide great insight into the justice system so please clue me in. Since Steve left I just don't get the clues anymore and I feel blue (see, that last sentence is a joke, get it?)
