But there are no baffels to remove. The tips are an optional part of the system and the muffler is functional without them. As far as pictures, they would need to be close up - the resonator tips are subtle from the outside. I'd still fight this one. The Bassaini is not nearly as loud as alot of stuff running around (Im in Virginia too).

I've never actually seen the Bassani system up close. I was thinking of something like the SuperTrapp systems available for Mustangs, where the baffles are readily visible.

First off, its great to have the forums back, the new site looks really good. Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions, to answer your questions, when I was pulled over, I didnt have the baffles in. I called the cop a few days later to tell him that I had fixed it (put the baffles back in) and to see if there was anyway to avoid going to court, because I'll be back at school for the sept. 12 court date. All he said he would do is look at the system now, and then tell the judge that it was fixed, and then it would be up to the judge whether or not I would have to pay the fine. So right now I either pay it or postpone the court date until I can go.

Thanks

Well, sounds like he is a really nice guy. Once a citation is submitted to the state/county, an officer has little to no control over what happens to it.

Golly, that's reassuring. "Calibrated ear" as DemonSVT so cunningly noted, huh?

Which of the six senses will be calibrated at the academy next? Telepathy (for sensing when someone has made an illegal U-turn 10 miles away) or vision (with a 1/2 mph acuity)?

Yes, my exhaust is still stock...

Would an SVT exhaust be an "effective muffling device" on a Zetec? It is a stock exhaust from ford...

Thanks for clearing that up Sandman, I figured there was a law that specified what a highway was. No more driving 60 through the mall parking lots I guess.:rolleyes J/K. Thanks again. laugh

ah, you are trolling again, eh? just can't get enough, can you?

Like I stated, you don't need a sound measuring device (or any calibrated device, for that matter) to write a ticket for this. Sometimes, it is so blatantly obvious (kind of like your troll post here) that there is no question about it. I'll be more than happy to argue this with you, since this is what I do for a living. :p

Oooh, sounds like you've still got those panties in a wad over your physics lesson from a couple of months back, eh? Glad I could oblige... wink

My point is that, while it's sometimes 'blatantly obvious' (speaking of, Sandman, I'd be more than happy to provide room, board, and jolly debates if you could make the short trip here to Melbourne to rid our streets of killer-bee imitating imports and J-body trash), what about the times when it's not? There are plenty a fool cop that have no clue what an SVT Contour is and might even blue-light one because it sounds louder than a regular Contour. Where is the line drawn, how strictly are the codes enforced?

Discerning minds want to know...

BWAHAHAHAHA, you have not schooled anyone, little man. Give me a break, your post here was a troll, plain and simple. Thanks for the laugh.

Clue: You are not giving anyone a lesson when you act like an @$$, even though the opposition does not.

Uh, did you, like, read my post, Einstein? No, you say? It figures. I was talking about situations where it was blatantly obvious. I even said that I would not normally write a ticket for this unless it was blatantly obvious, and that I would record the sound on my cruiser cam to be played back in court at a later time. That would all but assure a conviction.

There are plenty a fool cop that have no clue what an SVT Contour is

Cops are fools if they don't know what a SVT Contour is? Who is the fool? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA, you are getting funnier by the minute. I love roadside lawyers. Make me laugh every time.

and might even blue-light one because it sounds louder than a regular Contour. Where is the line drawn, how strictly are the codes enforced?

The line is drawn when it is obvious to a reasonably objective person that your exhaust system is louder than stock. A mild system that is slightly louder than stock will not likely draw attention. A system that I can hear in my car, with the windows rolled up and the A/C on full blast, is likely to draw my attention. Even then, I'm not likely to stop and cite you unless I can find some other reason for paying attention to your car.

Whose discerning mind was that, anyway? Certainly not yours!
