i've always been a 'driver' in terms of just hopping in the ride and heading nowhere in particular....chip off the old block as my father came from the days of the family weekend car ride (from hell when u're a kid wink )

first started when i got my first car at 18 and got insured...i went driving just because moms never told me i couldn't...in a p.o.s 78 honda accord cvcc with vw designed 2spd semi auto eek (ooooh, ahhhhh) one day i lost a cover off the tranny and soon after 1st gear went out leaving me to launch from a stop in second gear only (and took away my shifting fun frown )

then i had a 83 stanza which turned into a rabbit gti that i totalled while drunk and an 87 gti 16v that just broke and fell apart all around me but was a blast when it ran....graduated to a 91 passat 2.0 16v and it died of bent valves from a timing belt....

then i had the taurusaurus for 5 yrs....which is now a 95 contour se

of all the cars the contour is overall the best from top to bottom....the accord being so light and on good tires thanks to dad was the best handling in many respects...the gti's turned the most heads with the 16v being the one i challenged mustang gt's and iroc z's just to be a pest...i'd put that car against anything

the taurus was reworked so much that it was actually relatively fast but the contour is the best overall and reminds me so much of the vdubs in feel...

what was the topic??? oh **** sorry....yes im a driver...all those cars i put important miles on but also many many miles of just driving for the shear fun of the car....all the cars were fun in some respect and the taurus was damn near bionic with all the 'mods' it had

95 contour se...dark blue...monsterflow air filter...remanuf atx...wiring harness recall or bust!!!96k miles...motorcraft awsf32pp plugs & red ford racing 9mm wires...kvr black plated cross-drilled rotors & carbon fiber pads...currently undergoing renovation...excuse our dust!!!
are my dodgers for real????

I love driving. Agreed it can be a great stress reliever. Just find a twisty road (though not challenging), put in some good music and hit cruise.

Driving is fun, I have always been the driver when my friends and I go anywhere. Hell, I put 250 miles on my car this weekend alone!

A little different for me.. I used to itch to just go for a random drive in the Boxster, since I rarely drove it, so I did that alot. Now that I got rid of the SVT and drive it daily, I don't do the random no-place-to-go drives anymore.

The occasional clutch-drop and run to redline in 1st-3rd in the SVT always put a smile on my face after days away from the SVT when I was out of town. I sure miss it sometimes.

ME ME ME ME!!!
I drive for the hell of it sometimes. Always alone, though: my wife would never let me drive the way I do if she was in the car... wink

Today makes exactly one month since I got my 98 SVT. I got it with 30,700ish. We drove it home 1000 miles, two out of town trips to San Antonio (once to see Incubus-bada$$ show) and I just drove to lunch. I have around 4000 more miles eek eek eek
Sure is fun though

Yeah I love to drive, especially my Tour, but about anything. I've even been known to put the shuttle busses I drive at work through their paces. (you'd be surprised how fast a bus can actually take a corner...) I just had to drive my folks ram pickup for the weekend (they took my car to a wedding in Minn) and got back in my car today and remembered just how fun it is. My dad even likes it a lot, though it rides to rough for him, oh well. Gotta love just getting in and finding some twisties and havin fun in a car made for it.
