I am not sure if it may be a little different in your county or rather the county you were pulled over in. Basically you pay a fee to get into the program (Pretrial Diversion) and if you don't get anymore tickets within the specified time, for my first ticket in St. Joe County it was 12 onths the second in Marshall County was 6 months. If you go the specified time w/o another ticket (moving violations or other) then the ticket won't show up on your record.
You can call either the local police station or the prosecutors office to find out more information about that county.
This won't get you out of paying as you will have to pay to get into the program but is an alternative to keeping the ticket off of your record. Since I am only 20 yrs old, and I still had an accident on my record for the other 2 tickets, I found this to be a better alternative to having my insurance rates skyrocket
